Summary of the workshop on cosmic ray astrophysics
Abstract
Some new contributions to theories of the acceleration, composition, and propagation of Galactic cosmic rays and other highenergy particles are summarized. The conditions for stochastic acceleration of cosmic rays in transverse MHD shocks, a selfregulating injection model of direct cosmic ray production in shocks from thermal plasma, a Monte Carlo simulation of a collisionless shock, the role of accretion disks in particle acceleration, the age distribution of cosmic ray beryllium at various energies, and the effect of convection on the propagation of relativistic galactic electrons are among the topics discussed.
