Effects of specular reflection on radiative heat transfer in an absorbing, emitting, and anisotropically-scattering medium.
Abstract
The effect of specular reflection on radiative transfer in a one-dimensional absorbing, emitting and anisotropically scattering medium is assessed. Simultaneous equations for radiative transfer and energy conservation are derived and solved numerically with scattering anisotropy and internal heat generation taken into account. Comparison of the results with those generated with a diffusely reflecting boundary reveals minor differences in heat transfer coefficients and temperature distributions, which can be explained by a greater extent of multiple reflection in the medium with specularly reflecting boundaries.
