Electron H/+/ and O/+/ temperatures and densities from Arecibo incoherent-scatter results
Abstract
Results are presented from observations of the altitude region 230 to 1200 km above Arecibo on a winter morning. Analysis of autocorrelation functions of theoretical incoherent scatter spectra indicate that the temperatures and densities of the electrons, H(+) and O(+) can be calculated from experimental data. Typical data show that T(H+)/T(O+) has a maximum near 550 km and T(O+) and Te profiles have a temperature gradient at high altitudes of approximately 1 K/km.
