Topics discussed include the microtheory of the nonlinear polarizability of crystals and effects of spatial dispersion, synchronous nonlinear interaction of waves in periodic structures and coupled waveguides, wave-front reversal during the degenerate four- and six-photon interaction in semiconductors, intense reflection with wave-front reversal in crystals with linear electrooptic effect in the external electric field, and high-sensitivity systems for the wave-front reversal of optical radiation. Also considered are second-harmonic generation in asymmetric dielectric waveguides, regimes of self-focusing in the case of one- and two-photon resonances in passive and active media, the parametric excitation of molecular oscillations and laser-chemical reactions, and resonant four-photon parametric superluminescence in the case of the four-photon pumping of potassium and rubidium vapors.
