Measurement and calculation of the short-circuit SREMP response of vertical oscillating helical antennas and oscillating loop antennas
Abstract
The experimental and theoretical approaches developed for linear antennas by Bushell et al. (1980) are generalized to loop and helical antennas. It is thought that the equivalent circuit analysis of the response of antennas to source-region electromagnetic pulse (SREMP)-like environments will achieve its greatest utility when applied to antennas with geometry which is too complicated and, therefore, too expensive for a finite difference analysis. If a free-space equivalent circuit can be obtained, by method-of-moments analysis or by measurement, the algorithm described can generalize that circuit so that it will faithfully model antenna response in a medium with time-varying conductivity.
