Correlations between temperature and velocity fluctuations in the wall region of turbulent flow
Abstract
The measured statistical parameters of velocity and temperature fluctuations in the wall region of a turbulent flow at Re from 10,000 to 60,000 are compared. It is shown that fluctuations in wall temperature, which are a function of wall material, modify the structure of temperature fluctuations in the viscous sublayer and contribute to breakdown of the analogy between the velocity and temperature fields in this region. Measurements of the single-point mixed moments u'v', u't' and v't' and the probability density distributions of these quantities for the viscous sublayer are reported.
