Velocity of the drift of inhomogeneities in the region of solar wind acceleration from data of radio occultation experiments.
Abstract
Scintillation observations of the near-solar plasma made using interplanetary probes (Mariner, Helios, and Venera) are analyzed on the basis of a method that takes into account the proper motions of the radio source relative to the solar-wind inhomogeneities. It is shown that data on the frequency fluctuations and spectral line broadening of the radio signals can be used to determine the drift velocity of solar-wind inhomogeneities in the acceleration region.
