Characteristics of an XeCl electric-discharge laser
Abstract
Experimental results are presented concerning the influence of discharge parameters on the characteristics of an XeCl excimer laser. Output energy was studied as a function of pressure for various voltages; output energy and efficiency were studied as a function of capacitance for a constant voltage; output energy and efficiency were studied as a function of energy input into the gas; and the combined output energies of amplifier and oscillator were studied as a function of time lag between the initiation of excitation of the amplifier and the arrival of the radiation pulse from the oscillator to the amplifier. The unsaturated gain amounted to 15% per centimeter.
