Experimental study of local heat exchange intensifiers
Abstract
An experimental study has been conducted with the objective of optimizing the geometry of screw-type vortex generator inserts in heat exchanger tubes. It is found that the number of screw flights has little effect on the vortex heat efficiency, while the pressure loss increases with increasing number of flights. Thus, single-flight screw inserts are recommended with a pitch to channel height ratio of 0.36
