Phase constraints on FIR digital filters
Abstract
It is shown how FIR digital filters can be designed to meet a specific nonlinear phase response in the transition region, even though the gain of the filter is not specified in this region. The study was undertaken because in the approach used by other investigators, the gain is not specifed in the transition region. As a consequence, neither the real part nor the quadrature part can be specified in the transition region, and hence there is no control over the phase response either.
