Observations of core dominated sources with the multi telescope radio linked interferometer (MTRLI)
Abstract
Maps of core-dominated sources were made at 408 and 1666 MHz with the Jodrell Bank MTRLI. These maps show that many such sources have clearly defined jets, in addition to compact cores and regions of diffuse emission. The hypothesis is adopted that core dominated sources are seen end-on. It is argued that if Doppler beaming models offer a true explanation of the core properties, then the jets are moving relativistically, and core-dominated and classical double quasars are one and the same type of object.
