Jets and the Space Telescope: an introduction
Abstract
Jets in active galaxies are prime targets for the Space Telescope (ST). They occur on length scales ranging from smaller than a parsec to almost a megaparsec. There appears to be a close association between the narrow line region and radio jet structure on the kiloparsec scale. The angular resolution of the ST will be ideal for studying these kiloparsec sized components. Complementary radio observations are essential if the unique capability of the ST is to be exploited fully. Radio telescopes having resolution comparable to the ST are listed.
