Systematization of experimental data on resistance of turbulent flow between rotating cylinders /Couette flow/

An attempt is made to systematize experimental data on the resistance of turbulent flow between rotating cylinders. The systematization involves the clear representation of limiting transitions to the case of two-dimensional Couette flow on the one hand, and to the case of a cylinder rotating in an unbounded fluid or the case of the rotation of a liquid-filled cylinder, on the other. In particular, it is shown that Taylor's results on Couette flow are in quantitative agreement with Wendt's results.
