Effect of the solar wind on auroral and planetary geomagnetic activity
Abstract
The paper is devoted to finding correlations between the parameters of the solar wind plasma and the values of the AE-index and to investigating the difference between the effects of the solar wind on planetary and auroral geomagnetic activity. It was found that the kinetic energy flow density of the solar wind has a considerable effect on the auroral substorm activity, characterized by AE-indices; however, the relation between the said solar wind parameter and the index of planetary geomagnetic activity is even closer.
