Optical pulse propagation through clouds
Abstract
Statistically averaged experimental data, pulse stretching and direct measurements of delay time are presented for optical pulses propagating through clouds. For cloud optical thickness in the range 8-20, delay time is less than the data system time resolution (0.5 microsec), and pulse stretching is less than the laser pulse width (0.1 microsec). Results are interpreted in terms of a Monte Carlo model.
