Detection of deuteriocyanobutadiyne /DC5N/ in the interstellar cloud TMC-1
Abstract
The detection of DC5N via the J = 9-8 rotational transition at 22.878955 GHz is reported. The ratio of the abundances of DC5N to HC5N, R(DC5N), is found to be 0.016 + or - 0.003, which indicates that ion-molecule reactions are active in the Taurus clouds, but does not prove that HC5N is formed by ion-molecule chemistry. A comparison of R(DC5N) with R(DC3N) indicates that R(DC5N) is less than R(DC3N), which is consistent with ion-molecule models for their formation.
