Concerning the kinematics of visual binary and multiple stars of the FK4 catalog
Abstract
Differences between kinematic features of single, visual binary, and multiple stars are obtained for different spectral classes in the FK4 catalog. It is found that, for a stellar system close to statistical equilibrium, the velocity dispersion is greater for lower-mass objects. The greater velocity dispersion of higher-mass binary and multiple systems points to the absence of statistical equilibrium in the vicinity of the sun. It is also found that various initial conditions and paths and terms of stellar evolution can have an effect on the kinematic relations obtained here.
