Low-threshold-current injection laser with built-in passive waveguiding
Abstract
Low threshold current and stable transverse single-mode emission are basic requirements for the application of the injection laser in optical communications. This paper describes the mechanisms of current confinement and transverse mode stabilization of a newly developed simple laser structure with built-in passive waveguiding; lasers were prepared from standard four-layer double heterostructure wafers. Detailed measurements of the relevant lasing characteristics are presented.
