Two-phase pipe flow instabilities
Abstract
Instabilities occur in two phase flow channels such as steam generators, boiling water reactors, chemical process reboilers, and in cryogenic systems because of boiling and condensation as well as in adiabatic flows, and can be associated with peculiarities of the design, process, flow regime or hardware. Ledinegg instabilities and the related pressure drop oscillations, and density wave oscillations are considered for single channel systems. Some references to flow distribution instabilities in parallel multichannel systems are included.
