Development of US Army advanced missile G and C system
Abstract
The problem of developing an advanced guidance and control (G&C) system for future missiles is redefined, and the latest development program is presented. Results achieved to date are described, especially in the areas of mathematical models of the missiles and their G&C systems being used for analyses and simulations; aerodynamics; propulsion; guidance laws being developed and analyzed; status of development of disturbance accomodating control; signal processing for target locating and tracking; and digital design tool development. Future plans are considered, including contractor support. The nature of the future G&C system will be digital so that the overall missile system may benefit from present and predicted advantages that are implicit in digital controllers.
