Experimental operation of a digital video transmission system
Abstract
Digital color video transmission via satellite with a bit rate of 34 Mbit/sec was performed. The coding of the video picture was done according to the principle of differential pulse code modulation. System development is described and measurement of operational characteristics is discussed. Data obtained during operation via the Symphonie system prove that this design for 34 Mbit/sec transmission results in a clear savings of transmission power as compared to the FM technique.
