Ground equipment for moving satellites and geostationary satellites
Abstract
Computer techniques used in a mission control center as well as the operations undertaken by the center are described. Using TELECOM operations planning as an illustration, the various tasks immediately following injection and comprising the operational phase of satellite lifetime are discussed. The interface between the control center and other ground segment equipment is explained. The computer systems programming and the work done by the data processing center which assures the operation and control of the satellite are emphasized. Control center functional design is then considered in terms of generalized constraints posed by specific satellite type and mission objectives.
