On the dynamics of bubbles and drops
Abstract
The movements of nondeformable bubbles experiencing reduced weight as well as equilibrium figures of fluid rotating bodies experiencing weightlessness are investigated. Attention is given to the behavior of single bubbles as well as bubble pairs, noting that understanding the dynamics of single bubbles is a prerequisite for understanding the dynamics of bubble groups. The discussion covers the translatory movement of bubbles in a zero-g simulator under the influence of different fields of force. Consideration is then given to the movement of bubbles in a zero-g centrifuge. Finally, questions concerning the deformation of rotating fluid drops in an electrical field are discussed.
