Uncontrolled reentry of the Skylab satellite
Abstract
Calculations performed by the CNES in the monitoring of the descent of Skylab are discussed. The orbital situation of Skylab and the means available for orbital tracking and control are reviewed, and the required ephemerides and reentry prediction calculations are examined. The techniques developed and results obtained in the orbital and reentry time and place calculations are then presented and shown to be in excellent agreement with observations.
