Satellite-based location methods in the ARGOS systems
Abstract
The paper reviews the principles of operation and the functions of the ARGOS location and data collection system. Particular attention is given to the operational performance of ARGOS; error analyses, the geodetic reference system, performance criteria, and system specifications are described, and results of operational performance tests are presented. It is found that the maximum location accuracy of the system is about 400 meters in the case of unprocessed data and about 150 meters for statistically processed data.
