Geostationary-satellite stationkeeping. II - Orbit-correction strategy
Abstract
An orbit-correction strategy is developed for the stationkeeping of geostationary satellites, and basic orbit-correction schemes are reviewed. Three examples are considered: the inclined-plane strategy (used for Symphonie), the return-to-center strategy (used for Telecom 1), and a strategy based on eccentricity (used for direct broadcasting satellites). Finally, attention is given to the variables that determine the choice of a strategy, and the costs of stationkeeping.
