Results are presented on laboratory and full-scale studies of an absolute pyrheliometer based on film-type bolometers. The sensitivity, linearity, and inertia of the instrument were investigated. Random errors of the instrument were studied by comparing its performance with the 542 reference pyrheliometer. The mean square deviation of the ratio of the indications of the instrument under consideration to those of the reference does not exceed + or - 0.3%.
