Array transducer for ultrasonic testing and their applications
Abstract
An ultrasonic transducer array for detecting flaws in metal is described. The probe consists of 256 linearly arrayed elements. Each element corresponds to a thickness mode transducer (0.3 mm wide and 10 mm long) oscillating at 3.5 MHz. Adjacent elements are spaced 0.1 mm apart, and an electronic scanning system electrically switches the elements in the array. Sample data are shown for defects in a steel billet.
