Oscillator evaluation techniques. A - C. W. oscillators: Close to carrier noise measurement
Abstract
Means of measuring the unwanted noise components that are naturally or artificially impressed upon the wanted signal generated by the microwave source are examined. Attention is given to specification of close to carrier noise, analysis of the AM and FM components, measurement of the AM and FM components, basic principles of calibration for carrier noise analyzers, test equipment operation, and recording of results. Finally, precautions which must be observed when operating noise measuring equipment are discussed.
