Strain gage measurements in magnetic fields
Abstract
The use of strain gages in the high intensity time varying magnetic fields typically found in tokamaks is discussed with reference to instrumentation and techniques used, magnetic effects on strain gages, and strain gage installations on tokamaks and components. It is shown that the effect of ambient magnetic fields on strain gage instrumentation can be minimized by suitable selection of gage type, circuit configuration, and signal conditioning.
