Refraction corrections for an exponential atmosphere An accurate, real-time computational method
Abstract
A power law approximation to the exponential atmosphere is examined and compared numerically with the slab-atmosphere model. The power-law method with two segments is shown to be significantly more accurate, while requiring about half as much computation as the slab-atmosphere model. Extension of the method to nonexponential atmospheres is discussed.
