Feature extraction technique for fast digital image registration
Abstract
In spite of high computational costs, correlation is widely used for locating a given image (W), within a larger image (S). This paper presents a feature extraction technique which selects a set of pixels from W to be used in correlation. The reduction in the number of pixels used to correlate W with sub-images of S accomplishes considerable savings in computation with little effect on the correlator's accuracy and reliability
