The value of modular instrumentation designed for automatic test equipment
Abstract
An employment of modular instrumentation designed for Automatic Test Equipment (ATE) has great advantages. Modular instrumentation contributes greatly to the capability to reconfigure test systems to meet varied support requirements. Additional benefits are increased reliability, higher test throughput, and provision for technology insertion. The modular instruments with these benefits use a standard module-to-mainframe interface, distributed processing, and sample data techniques. The measurement and stimulus functions included in the instrument modules must come from a detailed analysis of the types of stimuli and measurements made during testing of electronic hardware.
