Investigation of electrochromic effects for display application
Abstract
The physical and physicochemical properties of tungsten oxide layers which are important for display applications are elucidated: the electrochromic switching behavior, particularly the ion transport mechanism, and the stability and aging effects. A solution of these problems implies a systematic analysis of the structure of the thermally evaporated tungsten oxide layers used for electrochromic displays. By variation of the evaporation conditions and by studying the film structure it was possible to find out the structure of thermally evaporated layers as well as the principles of the ion transport mechanism.
