An X-ray relativistic free-electron frequency upconverter
Abstract
The paper deals with the process of coherent Doppler frequency upconversion of an electromagnetic field by a periodic array of relativistic charged particles. The formation of a coherent array of electrons (bunching) is considered, along with the coherent scattering of an incident radiation (or static) field. Attention is given to physical effects playing a significant role in limiting the conversion efficiency of the process.
