Optimization of a 34 Mbit/s multilevel fiber optic transmission system
Abstract
The computer aided optimization of a multilevel fiber optic transmission system is described. A model for a fiber optic digital transmission system is presented. Noise characterization and optimal procedure are outlined, and an example of application is considered. The model makes it possible to optimize transmission levels, decision thresholds, and photodetector gain.
