Computer aided spectrum monitoring
Abstract
The paper describes the Radio Spectrum Measurement System (RSMS), which is employed to measure spectrum usage in support of spectrum management functions. The RSMS uses a minicomputer to control the operation of components of the receiving system, including antennas, transmission line components, calibration devices and processes, and related equipment. Furthermore, the computer carries out real-time processing on the measured data to improve data quality and reduce the cost of data storage. The computer also postprocesses data for particular applications and produces graphical output tailored to satisfy a wide range of spectrum management needs. Attention is given to the use of the RSMS for land mobile radio measurements.
