Satellite communication technology challenges for the '80s
Abstract
Some of the major technological developments expected in the satellite communications field in the 1980s are surveyed. Attention is given to such areas as Intersatellite links, digital networks, on-board processing, reconfigurable multiple beam antennas, as well as significant aspects of transponder and spacecraft technologies. Emphasis is placed on the potential capabilities rather than on any specific or planned systems. Finally, data and results are presented that are based on work being performed under Intelsat.
