AT&T/GSAT domestic satellite operational network
Abstract
The paper discusses the AT&T/GSAT satellite system that is used to supplement the facilities of nationwide long-distance networks. Attention is given to data on the reliability of the terrestrial microwave and coaxial cable transmission systems in the network, and to analyses of the results concerning user reaction tests. A newly developed VSLI chip is examined that contains the essential elements of a canceller; it is called the echo canceller. Graphs are presented that show the percentage of unacceptable calls vs round trip delay.
