Microwave components and technology developments in the European Space Agency
Abstract
Advanced microwave technological developments are pursued by the European Space Technology Centre of the European Space Agency (ESA), within an overall program of Scientific and Communications spacecraft and payloads development and operation. A selection of microwave hardware technology developments is presented, having particular relevance to next-generation communications satellite repeater designs. Items described include dielectric resonator materials evaluation for filter/MIC applications to 12 GHz; BAW-resonator stabilized bipolar oscillator at 1.5 GHz; geostationary-orbit radiation dose-depth experiment results; low-noise FETA performances at 12 GHz and 20 GHz; application of dual-gate FET in QPSK modulator.
