The relevance of the Space Telescope to the distribution of galaxies
Abstract
The Space Telescope can be effectively used to provide star/galaxy identification and classification by morphological type to aid in the automatic reduction of plates taken with ground-based telescope. Measuring machines can determine smoothed profiles on the photograhic plate. It is these smoothed profiles which are needed as standards for interpreting those of distant galaxies.
