Electromagnetic wave scattering by small bodies of an arbitrary shape
Abstract
The paper examines scalar and vector wave scattering by small bodies of arbitrary shape, with emphasis on the practical applicability of the formulas obtained and the mathematical rigor of the theory. Analytical formulas for scattering amplitude are obtained for scalar wave scattering by a single body of arbitrary shape, and the dependence of the scattering amplitude on the boundary conditions is investigated. In addition, an analytical formula is presented for the scattering matrix for electromagnetic wave scattering by a small body of arbitrary shape; the applications of these results are discussed. Finally, the multiparticle scattering problem is analyzed taking into account the interaction of scattered waves. Integrodifferential equations are found for self-consistent fields in a medium consisting of many particles (about 10 to the 23rd).
