Investigation of the current-voltage characteristic of a gas-discharge laser
Abstract
In the present paper, an expression describing the falling segment of the current-voltage characteristic of a glow-discharge in an inert gas is derived for the case of stepwise ionization. The analytical relations are in good qualitative agreement with experimental ones, obtained for neon and for neon-helium mixtures at pressure of 2 to 6 torr in 1.1 mm diam (150 mm long) tubes. The expression derived does not hold for direct ionization.
