Determination of the lifetime of a droplet rapidly evaporating in a heated gaseous medium
Abstract
The method proposed in the present paper for calculating lifetimes of droplets evaporating in a heated inert gas makes allowance for the kinetic effects at the phase interface on the basis of nonlocal hydrodynamical equations. In the first approximation, the method yields, in explicit form, the decrease in droplet lifetime as a function of the energy accommodation coefficients and surface evaporation. The results are seen to be of interest in designing gasdynamic lasers.
