Noise reduction in machines and installations - Fundamental possibilities and achievable results
Abstract
The article considers the fact that effective measures to reduce the noise of machines and installations require a precise knowledge of the physical implications involved in the generation and propagation of noise. It is shown that expensive and complicated measures do not always achieve the desired results. Noise reduction methods that are possible in principle are examined and are evaluated in regards to their effectiveness in lowering noise levels.
