Rapid nonresonance rotations of a satellite in the restricted three-body problem
Abstract
Attitude motions of a satellite in an arbitrary quasiperiodic orbit are analyzed in terms of the restricted three-body problem for the case when the angular velocity of the satellite is much greater than the angular velocity of the orbital motion of the primary bodies. It is shown that over asymptotically long time spans, the phase space will divide into a domain of rapid satellite motion about its angular momentum vector and a domain of slow evolution of the vector itself
