Influence of the properties of a steady-state asymptotic solution on its establishment
Abstract
Successful application of the 'method of establishment' (a modification of the Lax-Wendroff method) to the calculation of steady-state gas flows depends on the stability of the steady-state asymptotic solution with respect to small disturbances. In the present paper, equations are derived for the small disturbances of a steady-state solution that describes the supersonic gas flow at zero-incidence past a circular cone. The 'establishment' of the steady-state solution is analyzed, using MacCormack's finite difference scheme.
