The use of medium power lasers in electronics manufacturing. I

A survey is made of major fields of application in the processing of materials by lasers in the electronics industry, such as drilling, cutting and welding. The emphasis is on the identification of those unique parameters (power/energy level, wavelength, beam profile and modulation technique) that are ideally suited for a given application. Among the laser types considered are carbon dioxide, solid-state, Q-switching and argon lasers.
