A new side-entry eucentric goniometer stage for HVEM
Abstract
A very simple eucentric goniometer stage with a friction-free system was designed and constructed in which the various movements are completely independent of each other, thereby obtaining the advantage of a perpetual smooth motion. With reference to vibrational problems, the instrument is considered as an elastically suspended mass, acting as a seismograph. The decision to restrict the relative motion of the goniometer stage is shown to be a result of the experimental determination of the vibration spectrum of the microscope column.
