Iterative coherent processor for bandlimited signal extrapolation
Abstract
Two different phase retrieval methods, including a phase unwrapping algorithm and a Knox-Thompson algorithm, were combined with the two autocorrelation methods. The results were evaluated, for the same set of 50 noisy speckle frames. In all cases, some of the pixels of the reconstructed images had negative values, and the method reported by Fienup (1978) was used for retouching. The final results are generally superior to the use of the Fienup method alone. The individual speckle frames were generated by adding together identical object images, or speckles, located at randomly distributed positions in the image plane, which was a grid of 32 x 32 pixels. Attention is given to speckle construction theory, the treatment of the autocorrelations, and a qualitative method of comparison among the images obtained.
